The Easter bunny is alive and well

The Easter bunny paid me a visit yesterday, but I couldn't find anything after he left except for little black things all over the ground.

Luc wearing his bunny ears - but not for long!

And here is a garden update - 3 weeks into growing from seed
Cherry tomatoes in the round containers and beefsteak in the long one.  I am going to have to thin out the tremendous amount of Beefsteak tomatoes so they don't fight for space in the container.

Green beans and peas - doing great!

Here are all my herbs trying to grow.

Lemon and fig trees - both, doing well.  There are loads of lemon buds starting, so we shall see.

I've thinned out the zucchini to 4 plants - still probably 1 too many!

AND the best for last - new krap in the kitchen!  A bundt cake with glaze and blueberries.

My thumb is getting greener

My garden is growing along very well.

The peas and green beans are really popping out

The herbs are starting to come up
and the tomatoes are starting to sprout - I'm going to have to do a lot of thinning on these!
and in real Kitchen Krap news, anyone want an August Rush poster or some sweet hawaiin rolls?

I was doggie/house sitting all last week for the adorable and scooter riding Button.  She is a very sweet Wheaton Terrier.  So happy to see whoever is at the door at the end of the day!
I went to a party this weekend (50th Birthday party for one person / going away (to London) party for a family and one of the guests made this fabulously "cheesy" 70s style cheesy pineapple.

I got these fabulously yummy Wasabi Kit Kats from someone and they also had Green Tea kit kats and Rum Raisin Kit Kats.  We only get one flavor!

And finally - I made this diet coke chicken last night, but I used Diet Vernors (ginger ale from MI that I grew up with) which was really good.  I ate it with some quinoa that I already had made, otherwise, I would have had it with rice or pasta even.  http://myslimmingworld-jo.blogspot.com/2011/06/diet-coke-chicken-1-x-can-of-diet-coke.html

Awesome!  Someone is going to snag a great old stereo system
See - I said there would be some strange things sometimes!

Leftover remnants from a meeting - various veggies and some melon

Planting and Planting

I think people are just planting stuff in the kitchen now :)  I mean, the bathrooms aren't that close to the kitchen.  The hair dye, however, is from a promotional tie in to Rock of Ages - so that makes sense
Fourteen Days in on the plants - - -
And for a planting update - here are my zucchini - more than these 3 have popped up, but I am pulling them so they don't crowd each other out

I think those are chives in the middle coming up - nothing on the others yet

The peas (on the top) are doing really well and the green beans are coming along also

The tomatoes don't want to come out yet!

It's eternally spring in California

After only 9 days my pea plants are already staring to shoot up!  Yippee . . . my other plants, not so much movement yet.

dwarf fig and dwarf lemon

zucchini

the rest of the plants

But what you really want to see is all the glorious stuff left in the kitchen - so here is what has been in there this week:

today there was a suspiciously Costco apple pie along with a lonely orchid (*amended by LJ!)

Yesterday, someone left two burgers from Carls Jr - they were totally cold, like they had been in a refrigerator over night or something.  Don't know if they were from a promotional meeting or someone just didn't feel like having meat that day.

These two pics are reversed - I went into the kitchen to see what was left from earlier in the day and it was only these pecans and crackers

Someone must have gotten a hamper and didn't like the contents - they were very eclectic - Violet flavored creme candies, Scottish Oat Cakes (you eat them with cheese - pretty good with the cheese if you have never had them) one sad little lonely chocolate, some weird pink ladyfinger cookie-things, yummy coconut marshmallows (I had one of those) and the aforementioned pecans and crackers . . . where was the good stuff?  They must have kept it all for themselves.  But, as you can see - the other stuff did get gobbled up!

My cousin Tennille had a Mardi Gras themed party at her house on the weekend.  It was fantastic.  She made a lot of grub, including these yummy mudbugs (crawfish for you wimpy people who would eat a mudbug!)

Here is a plate of all the goodies - hot links, crawfish, fried fish, jambalaya and cornbread - mmm mmm mmm

I made these Quinoa pizza bites http://www.fitsugar.com/Gluten-Free-Quinoa-Pizza-Bites-21988461 - they were so good!

This just in . . . HP7B posters (That is Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part II) in Japanese, unopened See's peanut brittle, unopened See's toffee-ettes and some leftover coffee supplies!
After a few meetings during the day we have leftovers from www.zankouchicken.com and some fruit - notice that the posters and Peanut Brittle are gone - I wonder if someone will get the Peanut Brittle as a gift since it was unopened?
That is it for this week (since I have been so bad at posting this week!)

A Lonely Little Bag update

This is from last night - the bag of tortilla chips is still there along with a can of Endust - I told you that we sometimes have "assorted surprises" in there!

A lonely little bag

This lonely bag of tortilla chips is currently up for grabs in the kitchen today!  I don't know where they are from as it is a plain white bag.  They aren't the horribly addictive limey-salty-tasty ones from http://www.chipotle.com.  Those chips are fantastic!

That is all today!

Viktor Benes Alligator is the bomb

Today in the kitchen there was some leftover coffee from Starbucks that someone had at a meeting along with a poster of some comic book characters that someone here at work's friend draws.  I really should have found out the name of it so I could have posted that . . .

And then in the afternoon this all appeared - - some Bagels from Noah's (why everyone is going to Noah's lately is beyond me - it is no where close here to our office - it's all the way down in Beautiful Downtown Burbank) there are some other bagels and a fruit platter remnant from the cafeteria and the best of all is the Alligator from Viktor Benes Bakery (these are located in Gelson's Grocery stores).  If you have never tried one, you could find it here also http://www.viktorbenes.com/index.html

Green-ish Thumb

There is nothing to report from the kitchen today, so you will get to hear all of my gardening tales from the weekend.  First, I went to Lowe's and bought the trellis not thinking it was kinda big and how would I get it in my car.  It did fit after some finagling and I need to get another one so I will take a picture of that as I know you are dying to see it.  My landlady Maggie was out fiddling around in the yard and decided she was going to help ready the spot where the zucchini was going to go.  She dug out some weeds and the next thing I knew she had a huge shovel and some pruning shears and was attacking a stubborn root that she had found. She looks like it is winter or something here, dressed in that fleece jacket, but it was 80something degrees yesterday!

And here is the little plot of zucchini all ready to grow.

Here are my fruit trees - a drawf Fig (on the left) and a lemon tree that has so many little lemons on it already.  I wonder how many will actually grow.  I got the fig tree last year from http://www.logees.com/
It came in by DHL and had 4 figs on it when I received it.  I only had 1 of them last year and it was just so-so.  I'm sure they will be better this year. I got the lemon tree from OSH down the street.

Here are the planters with everything in them.  I planted beefsteak tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, green beans, peas, chives, basil, cilantro and rosemary. I got all the planters and dirt from Big Lots yesterday - they had a 20% off sale - woohoo!

Sparse day today!

This was yesterday - a box of Korean Ginseng tea.  Nothing special.  Someone moved it back next to the rest of the tea in the kitchen.  I shall have to look and see if anyone is actually taking tea bags from it and using it.

I am busy today trying to decide what to plant in my container garden at home.  So far, I have rosemary growing along with dwarf fig and lemon trees.  Things I know I want to plant are zucchini, green beans, tomatoes and a bunch of different herbs.  We shall see how it all goes.  I'm going to get these cool little trellis' for the green beans to grow up on.

Not just our Kitchen!

It's not just our kitchen!  I had to go to the bathroom and the bathroom on our side of the floor was having issues all day so it was closed for repair.  I decided to go to the bathrooms on the 2nd floor but it was an issue with all the bathrooms on our side, no matter what floor - so I had to go to the backside of the building and use those.  So as I was walking past the 2nd floor kitchen, I noticed this little display - bagels, cream cheese, OJ, fruit and a cake.  It's not just us!

As a side note, when I was on the elevator, I spotted this spoon on the floor.  I forgot to check this morning to see if it was still there.  50 to 1 that it still is!

And a 2nd side note . . . nothing to do with our kitchens, but I went to a party this past weekend and my friend is way too creative - she made these cute little lunch boxes for the kids to eat - a pirate for the boys and a princess for the girls!  She made them with a bagel, some cream cheese, turkey for the face, cheese for the hat and crown, pepperoni for the eye patch, peppers for the nose and mouth cheese for the hair and blueberries for the eyes.  Then she filled it with carrots, celery, strawberries and cheddar whales.  So cute.

Let me catch you up first!

We have a table in our 3rd floor kitchen where everyone brings leftovers from meetings, parties at home or just general cleaning of the office and want to get rid of stuff.  Everyone knows it is a free for all with stuff left in there.  I always thought I should start taking pictures of what is left in there because sometimes it is quite remarkable.  I have finally started to document it now.

Today there was a chocolate bar, a wind-up chef toy, some cocoa mix and cappucino pecans.
Noah's bagels (well, only one half of a muffin left) along with Cream Cheese - the Honey Walnut is highly recommended - some "energy bits" (um, no thank you) and some brown rice pasta.
After lunch, there appeared a spinach/mushroom salad, some bread, more clementines and some grapefruit.  It's always helpful when someone leaves a note!  Thanks Jim!!
This was Monday - leftover birthday cake (for a party I was at on Sunday - Happy 5th Birthday Camena!) and some homegrown lemons as well as some Kinder chocolate eggs.
The lemon is still there!  Along with a box of blueberry muffin mix and a box of FiberWise drink mix.  Yum! not

Then there was a little clementine and a pathetic looking lemon.
Here we have some rye bread and chocolates that were left on the table and I thought to myself . . . Rye bread, okay, I need to take a picture.
